To start layering your face gloss, Lori Leib, a professional makeup artist and the creative director of Bodyography, recommends using a base that matches the texture of your face gloss. “If I use a face gloss or creamy highlighter, I prefer to layer it on a dewy foundation formula,” she tells Elite Daily.

The next best way to up your glow is by hydrating with either a day cream or facial oil. Then, you’ll want to layer on sunscreen, like Bodyography’s Tinted Moisturizer ($33, Bodyography). This will create a dewy foundation that’ll let your face gloss shine.

“To achieve an editorial glossy complexion without looking sweaty, it is all about application and placement,” Leib says. “Be sure to apply the face gloss to the points you want to highlight, such as the tops of the cheekbones, brow bones, and nose bridge.”

Once you get your face gloss, Leib suggests using your fingers or a small, flat brush to gently place your gloss. Because a little gloss goes a long way, either of these methods will allow you to carefully place the gloss in a controlled way.

One use of face gloss can be for creating an ultra-shiny eye. You can use your gloss over any eyeshadow to add a wet look to your lids. While this look will crease, in Leib’s words, that’ll only add to its allure.
