Blake Lively has been a fashion It Girl since her Gossip Girl days and she proves that she knows her way around a hemline every time she hits a red carpet, especially at the Met Gala. Despite her plans to skip her signature event this year, it’s still time to take a look a look at Lively’s Met Gala fashion evolution, to show why she’s still so deserving of the It Girl title.

Met Gala 2008: Superheroes: Fashion & Fantasy

Blake kept things toned down at her first Met Gala and her curve-hugging black Ralph Lauren gown would be considered tame for the event by today’s standards. Still, Lively channeled buckets of old-school glamour, from her gloves to her diamonds to the feathers on the skirt.

Lively amped the silhouette for her 2009 Met Gala appearance. Her azure blue Versace gown featured some adventurous beading, a sky-high thigh slit, a touch of Grecian draping, and gorgeous asymmetrical sleeves.

The The Shallows star kept to the same shade of blue for the 2010 Met Gala, but lifted the hemline way up. The structuring on her Marchesa minidress is exquisite and Lively let the dress do the talking with subdued Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.
