Kim K’s 2022 Met Gala Look Wasn’t Head-To-Toe Black Fabric, But It Still Stood Out

It was memorable for an entirely different reason.

It wasn’t long ago when Kim Kardashian stole the show at the 2021 Met Gala, wearing black fabric that covered everything from the top of her head down past the bottom of her feet. Yet, somehow, she found a way to steal the show again at the 2022 event.

Talk about a reference. Kardashian dove into the Jean-Louis archives for one of the French Hollywood costumer designer’s most iconic looks. It’s the very same dress that Marilyn Monroe wore while singing “Happy Birthday” to John F. Kennedy in 1962. And, according to her red carpet interview with Vogue, the dressed arrived to her with armed guards.

In all the flashing lights, the crystals on her champagne-colored gown looked iridescent. They were throwing off all kinds of colors in those lights.

Kardashian did not skimp on her vintage look. Just like Monroe did back in the day, she rocked pointy bust cups to really give her that ‘60s silhouette.

The decadence didn’t stop there. She kept herself warm and looking sharp with a vibrant white, furry coat very artfully draped around her waist.

Kardashian’s 2022 Met Gala makeup was all about the bronzer. She showed off a classic smokey eye and was, as expected, contoured to the nines.

It wouldn’t be right if Kardashian brought back Monroe without pay homage to her classic, blonde hair. But, rather than a bob, Kardashian slicked her hair down for a very sleek, almost shaved look.

Kardashian showed up with none other than boyfriend Pete Davidson on hand. In his simple, classic black suit and sunglasses, it was giving body guard.

A blast from the past. Here’s Marilyn showing off the same gown back in the day.
