Break out the pearls, y’all!
Have you spent the last few years missing the drama and fun of pop-up events? Because, same. Luckily, Dîner en Blanc, the pop-up dinner where all guests wear fancy, all-white attire, came back for 2022 after a two-year break.
_____
Around 4,000 attendees in fancy white attire showed up at the Sept. 19 pop-up dinner and dance party, which partnered with beverage brand Champagne Barons de Rothschild.
Each year, guests bring *everything* with them: all-white table settings, decorations, and dinner, although picnic boxes are also available for sale. (Food can be whatever color you want, but I recommend something that doesn’t stain.)
The event location is kept secret until the last minute. For 2022, the New York City dinner was at the south end of Manhattan, with sunset views over the Hudson River.
Guests were thrilled to see the event back after a two-year hiatus.
“We're building something back together as a community, we're sharing a meal or sharing a moment, creating this special moment,” Dîner en Blanc Co-Founder and President Sandy Safi tells Elite Daily.
“I love the festivity of the party,” adds Chef Todd English, who has worked with the event for five years. “It’s sort of this cult thing, and people take it so seriously. It’s a fun night!”
After the dinner, the guests get together on the dance floor to boogie the night away (or at least until 10 p.m. or so).
While the NYC event celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2022, Dîner en Blanc also holds events in over 100 cities in the United States and around the world, including Seattle, Washington; Austin, Texas; Chicago, Illinois, and more.
The event always has a long waiting list (nearly 60,000 in 2019!), but there’s no time like the present to try. You can join the waiting list for 2023 at Dîner en Blanc’s official website.
