Even though Zendaya’s not attending the 2022 Met Gala (sad face), we can still take a look back at her most iconic Met Gala moments (aka all of them). Here they are, ranked from simply impressive to absolutely iconic.
It’s not surprising that Zendaya’s first Met Gala look was her most youthful. The look, designed Fausto Puglisi, was short and sweet, with sharp edges featuring a sun design.
Despite the stunning sun motif that extended from Zendaya’s long train to her tiara, belt, and cuffs, this is definitely the most understated of the Euphoria star’s Met Gala ensembles.
Zendaya’s curve-hugging gown designed by Michael Kors fit the actress beautifully in 2016, but the star of the look was definitely the actor’s stunning bowl cut.
For many folks, this was the first moment they realized that Zendaya is a true fashion chameleon who can pull off *literally* any look. The smokey eye and face-framing short hair look rendered her entirely glam and almost unrecognizable.
Zendaya nailed the theme at the 2018 Met Gala in a stunning full armor look designed by Versace. The theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and Zendaya went full Joan of Arc, plus some auburn micro bangs.
The floor-length, chainmail gown featured some truly stunning metalwork and the hard edge of the style was softened by her lit-from-within glam, softly waved bob, and delicate jewelry.
Zendaya’s floral Dolce & Gabbana tropical ballgown featuring parrot and floral patterning at the 2017 Met Gala was undoubtedly gorgeous, but her natural hair texture stole the show.
While the overall look from the full skirt to her full bangs and bold red lip was all opulence and timeless glamour, I remember talking about Zendaya’s hair for days after she stepped out in this look. It’s definitely one for the record books.
For her fifth (and currently final) year at the Met Gala, Zendaya showed up and out in a color-changing Tommy Hilfiger gown, proving that she understood the assignment.
Not only was the ballgown with puff sleeves, the pumpkin purse, and the rest of the look a pitch-perfect embodiment of the Met Gala’s “camp” theme, but the Disney alum went above and beyond with some technicolor special effect solidifying her status as a fashion icon.
