Austin Butler definitely brought the most surprising date to the 2022 Met Gala. Ahead of his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the biopic Elvis, Butler showed up to the fashionable event with Presley’s former wife, Priscilla Presley.

Butler and Presley showed up to the Met Gala together, dressed in matching all-black outfits.

Butler will be playing Presley’s former husband in the upcoming biopic Elvis, which is releasing on June 24.

Presley opted for a dark look for the evening, pairing a floor-length black Prada gown with a black headband on top of her dark red hair. She nodded to the “Gilded Glamour” theme with gold detailing on her sleeves.

Butler matched Presley’s rock-and-roll vibe in a black shirt and matching pants, complete with a black satin scarf.

Presley recently praised Butler’s portrayal of her ex-husband, saying “Austin Butler, who played Elvis is outstanding. Halfway through the film [I] said WOW!!! Bravo to him.”

Presley also met up with Olivia DeJonge at the Met Gala. DeJonge plays Presley herself in Elvis.

The full trailer for Elvis was released on Feb. 17, a couple of weeks before the Met Gala.

Presley wasn’t Butler’s only Met Gala date, though. He shared a kiss with his supermodel girlfriend Kaia Gerber on the red carpet.
