Murderer Calls Sex Hotlines As 79-Year-Old Victim Lies Dying Next To Him

An English man has been accused of killing an elderly woman before using her phone to call sex lines to distract him from his crime.

Gareth Dack, 33, strangled 79-year-old Norma Bell in her England home last April and pillaged her residence to hide the evidence of his murder.

After using a cable to choke the foster mother, he used her phone to call sex lines advertised by Babestation while she laid dead or dying next to him, Metro reports.

Police haven't confirmed if Bell was dead or not while Dack used her phone to make calls to the sex lines.

However, before he made the calls, he stole a TV from inside her home and $880 in cash. Apparently, he sold the TV a friend for $75 before returning to her home and calling the hotlines associated with Babestation.

Dack — the small-time cocaine dealer and father of four — remained in Bell's apartment until the next day.

Before leaving, he tried covering up his crime by setting two fires in the home and leaving the gas on in the kitchen, but his plans of destruction failed.

Upon investigation, Dack's DNA was found in various locations of Bell's home of 27 years. It remained on the cable around the widow's neck, on a match found in the kitchen and inside Bell's purse.

Bell's phone was reportedly found in Dack's parents' garage at a nearby residence.

Apparently, Dack knew Bell since he was a young boy because she was the foster mother to one of his friends, as well as more than 50 other foster children.

A spokesperson from Hartlepool Borough Council praised Bell's foster care, saying,

Their commitment was succinctly summed up in the annual review of their fostering in 1978, which stated that 'the standard of care given to the foster children placed in the Bell household has always been of the highest order.'

Dack was officially charged of murder and arson on Thursday, February 2, at Teeside Crown Court.

He will receive a life-long term in prison, with a minimum term of 33 years.
