Author Lemony Snicket Just Donated $1 Million To Planned Parenthood

by Gillian Fuller

Planned Parenthood just got a major financial boost, thanks to beloved children's author Daniel Handler.

The “A Series of Unfortunate Events” writer — better known by his pen name, Lemony Snicket — announced in a tweet yesterday he and his wife plan to donate a whopping $1 million to the controversial reproductive health organization.

The news was confirmed by Planned Parenthood when it responded to Handler's tweet, thanking him for his generosity.

Handler's donation comes on the heels of the Republican push to cease federal funding for Planned Parenthood -- an attempt to promote the pro-life cause.

Fortunately for women, President Obama threatened to veto the Republican bill if necessary, and a slew of celebrities — including Lena Dunham, Kerry Washington and Elizabeth Banks — came out in support of Planned Parenthood.

For now, it looks like women's rights are safe. Let's just hope it stays that way when the next prez comes into office.
